ABOUT US ...

Street Kids Rehabilitation Association was founded in İstanbul, Turkey in 1998. It is a non-profit independent organisation dedicated to reaching the street children – children and youth in need of special attention and protection by meeting their physical, educational, and emotional needs. We treat them to become contributing members of their society and empower them with qualities and skills fit for building their own lives.

Information sharing and research, training and development, national and international networking, advocacy and capacity building and government, media relations are among our program areas.

We are feeding, clothing, healing, and educating street kids in Social Services and Child Protection Organization ‘Yeldeğirmeni Child and Youth Center’ and ‘Küçükbakkalköy First Step Station’.

In the year 2003, our Association successfully completed a project titled Situation Analysis of Children in Need of Special Protection in Turkey which was financially supported by UNICEF.

Our director Prof. Dr. Oğuz Polat is performing a radio program called “Kids Have Rights” at Açık Radyo (Open Radio) which already reached its 100th program.

Our Association is also one of the founding and active member of Kids Have Rights Coalition and “0-18 If Hit, Breaks” Citizens for Child Rights Platform working on all kinds of child issues.
